Use BnButlers and google maps offline to navigate Aruba without internet

If you have browsed this website a little you have already noticed that we have conveniently added “google maps locations” to all of the tourist information we have listed on BnButlers. We offer google maps locations for all the activities, Aruba’s beaches, shopping area’s, supermarkets, cultural landmarks & sightseeing etc, meaning BnButlers can be used as a navigator and is really all that you need to get around while in Aruba. But what if you don’t have internet on your phone… well, no problem 🙂

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a working navigator by your side even when you don’t have internet around? Fortunately, This is one of those situations that almost doesn’t happen anymore, except when we are on vacation in for example.. Aruba 🙂

In just a few simple steps I will explain you right now how to turn your smartphone into a GPS navigator without the need for any internet on the road! Let’s do it:

Download a google map to use offline

  • On your iPhone or iPad, open the “Google Maps” app.
  • Make sure you’re connected to the Internet and are not in “Incognito” mode.
  • Search for a place, in this case “Aruba”.
  • At the bottom, tap the name or address of the place and then tap “More”
  • Select “Download offline map” and click Download.

Use offline maps
After you download a map, use the Google Maps app just like you normally would. If your Internet connection is slow or even absent, Google Maps will use your offline maps (using your smartphone’s build-in GPS) to give you directions.

  • Get directions and see routes
  • Use navigation
  • Search for locations

Note: You can get driving directions offline, but not transit, bicycling, or walking directions. In your driving directions, you won’t have traffic info, alternate routes, or lane guidance.

Have fun exploring Aruba!
